ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Following assessment of the costs, logistics and challenges with maintaining an office from abroad, Calima recognized that the most efficient way to deploy funds and carry out activities was through CWL Energy’s turnkey Asset Management services. CWL Energy acted as the representative for Calima Energy and provided the boots-on-ground presence so critical to operations. The Asset Management team assembled, subsequently transitioned to Calima and now acts as their Canadian based management team.
Calima was also able to leverage the resources of CWL Energy’s Fort St. John office further limiting their expenditures. With the support of CWL Energy, Calima de-risked the Montney resource and identified substantial future development opportunity.
Given today’s capital constrained environment, the engagement of CWL Energy as an early Asset Manager offered a comprehensive and cost-effective solution to establishing their operational presence in Canada. CWL Energy continues to support Calima in their Canadian operations.
CWL Energy’s area of expertise and existing relationships proved invaluable to Calima throughout their proof of concept phase. Our ability to source the right technical and operational staff and address foundational business requirements enabled Calima to get up and running in a foreign jurisdiction, in short order. With the support of CWL Energy, Calima was able to safely, efficiently and in an environmentally responsible manner, achieve their winter targets for pad construction, drilling, completion and testing of three wells, including two horizontals. Companies similar to Calima, with a focus on cost effective execution of programs in the absence of necessary resourcing, have expressed interest and clearly see the benefit associated with a multi-discipline service provider such as CWL Energy.
